A picture can speak a thousand words.
Diagrams combine a thousand words with numbers to show the true measure of a situation.
Any article is merely a vehicle to convey a journalist's opinion. When an author cites a source, that source is often another article conveying another journalist's opinion. Critical thinking should implore you to seek out quantitative information over qualitative and check where the numbers came from. Numbers give a sense of scale and their presence shows the writer has done their research.
These articles have taken more of my time than any others. I have researched, found data and measured as accurately as I can.
