For many years paper maps have included labels along the edge of the map. In 2010 this feature was brought to electronic maps with LIMBs for GeoServer and OpenLayers. And now it's available for Google Maps as LIMBs for Google Maps.

This JavaScript library allows you to track the location of places that are off the map. The markers stick to the edge of the map as they leave the map.
